SOUND DESIGNER-DUBBING MIXER

About

I was born in Athens,Greece and from a very early age I developed a passion for sound and music. I studied sound engineering at School of Audio Engineering in London and upon my return in Greece I started working as an assistant engineer at the biggest recording facility in Athens, Sierra studios. Within two years I was offered a full-time position at the newly formed post production department, hosting Greece’s first ever DAW, the SSL Screensound.

Within a very short amount of time I began working for the biggest advertising campaigns incl. brand names such as Coca Cola, Levis, Silk Cut as well as TV drama, documentaries, corporate videos  etc

I was also the first sound editor in Greece to use a DAW for a feature film, “The Charioteer", by Alexis Damianos which took almost a year to complete.

Soon after I got involved in the recording and editing of all local versions of Disney animation features such as Toy Story, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan ,Hercules, Tarzan as well as 20th Century Fox’s Anastasia and DreamWorks’s Prince of Egypt.

In 1999 I moved to PPV SA, the biggest post production facility in Greece, as head of the sound department and their state of the art Dolby certified audio suite.

Within the next years I did the sound design and mix for a large number of TV and radio commercials, feature film and trailers, corporate events as well as producing music and sound cues for the Athens 2004 Olympics opening ceremony.

In 2009 I went freelance working out of my in-house facility, again providing sound design and mix for the biggest local ad campaigns as well as many feature films. I also joined a team of international mix supervisors for DreamWorks animation and went on to work on films such as How To Train Your Dragon 2, Kung Fu Panda 3, Trolls, Boss Baby and others.

In 2014 I decided to try and pursue a parallel Academic career and enrolled at the Msc Sound design program at the University of Edinburgh. I completed the course with distinction and went on to work for the University for another year. During that time I had the opportunity to work in very high profile projects such as workshops by Brian Eno and Martin Creed, community work in Gambia,Africa as well as the Edinburgh International Festival.

I remain in Edinburgh , where along with my freelance work I am employed by Edinburgh College as a learning assistant and as a guest lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, Napier University and the University of Highlands and Islands..
